PAR - Paraguay unveil squad

ASUNCION (South American Championship for Women) – Paraguay have announced their team for the upcoming South American Championship for Women starting on August 1 in Asuncion.

Laura Alfonso, Veronica Encina and Andrea Gomez were all released by Santiago Ochipinti who will coach the Paraguayan national team on home soil.

"This is a very good group of players,” said star player Marlene Rocio Riquelme."

"The first step is to reach the semi-finals and then we could fight for third place."

"Argentina and Brazil have superb squads as lots of their girls play in Europe," said the 19-year-old.

Paraguay have been drawn in Group B alongside Argentina, Colombia and Bolivia.

Group A features defending champions Brazil, Venezuela, Chile and Peru.
