    PANAMA (COCABA/2009 FIBA Americas Championship) - The Panamanian national team started their practices under head coach David Rosario for the COCABA and 2009 FIBA Americas Championship.

    Panama was invited for the FIBA Americas Championship after Cuba decided not to go for the tournament that qualifies the best four teams for the 2010 FIBA World Championship to be played in Turkey.

    The Panamians have a great opportunity to test themselves prior to the FIBA Americas Championship, by playing in the COCABA Championship to be played from August 10-14 in Cancun.

    The players called are: Jair Peralta, Jonathan King, Maximiliano Gómez, Dionisio Gómez, Michael Hicks, Danilo Pinnock, Gary Forbes, Josimar Ayarza, Abdul Herrera, Jamaal Levy, Gyno Pomare, Daniel King, Antonio García and Jaime Lloreda.

    In the COCABA Championship the top three teams qualify for the 2010 Centrobasket, which is a qualifier for the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship (Olympic qualifier). They are in Group B along with Belize, Guatemala and Nicaragua.

    Meanwhile in the 2009 FIBA Americas Championship they are in Group B along with Argentina, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
