    Race to gold intensifies as eight teams remain

    AMMAN (Jordan) - The FIBA U18 Asia Cup 2024 Quarter-Finals is all set following the Qualification to Quarter-Finals' conclusion on Friday night at the Prince Hamza Hall.

    Hosts Jordan finalized the 8-team ensemble following a thrilling 91-85 overtime victory over Qatar, setting up a meeting with defending champions Korea.

    Jordan and Korea, which swept their way into the Quarter-Finals through a clean 3-0 sweep of Group B, will play on Saturday at 19:30 local time.

    It would serve as the main event of a busy quadruple-header on that day, which commences at 11:30 local time with a clash between China and India.

    Eleven-time winners of the men's continental U18 competitions, the young Team Dragon reached the Quarter-Finals after sweeping Group B.

    They will be taking on a team beaming with much confidence following a stunning upset of Lebanon, 64-62, in the opening salvo of Friday's QF qualifiers.

    Group D top seed New Zealand, on the other hand, will take on Iran at 14:00 local time in one of two rematches of the 2018 Quarter-Finals held in Thailand.

    The 2-seed of Group B, the young Team Melli forged the duel against the Junior Tall Blacks by showing Chinese Taipei the door through an 86-73 rout.

    The other rematch from the 2018 contest, lastly, will be between Australia, champions of that edition, and Japan in a battle of tournament favorites.

    Runners-up in 2022, the AKATSUKI JAPAN arranged the showdown against Group A's best team following an 85-61 beatdown of the Philippines.

    Winners of their respective brackets will not only reach the Semi-Finals on Sunday but book themselves tickets to the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2025 as well.
