ANKARA (FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women) - Whether Argentina are playing in London or not, the future looks bright now that highly talented playmaker Melisa Gretter has come of age at the senior level.

Stepping out in the Turkish capital marked a significant moment in her fledgling career since it was her first taste of major tournament basketball at the global level having previously played at both the U17 and the U19 World Championship in addition to the FIBA Americas Championship last summer.

And, just as she did previously at youth level, the teenager managed to get plenty of tongues wagging with her performances - not least after her quarter-final display against hosts Turkey when she breathed life into Argentina with a dazzling 17 point contribution off the bench.

With her quick hands, confident ball-handling and absolutely priceless ability to knock down an outside shot in the faces of her opponents, it may not be long before clubs outside of Argentina come knocking.

However, head coach Roberto Santin believes she must not be fast-tracked and still has plenty of time on her side to allow her game to evolve in a more organic fashion.

"She has very high potential for sure but she still needs to learn what it takes to play consistently" insisted the play-caller.

"She must keep looking at the more experienced players such as Sandra Pavon for example.

"To mature as a player, I think she must play at each stage carefully to ensure she that one day, she will reach her maximum potential.

"But, it's also very clear that this tournament has provided her with exactly the kind of level and quality of basketball she needs to play" continued Santin.

"It definitely pushes her in the right way to play against so many good players."
