MANILA (2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments) - The Semi-Finals are here! Four countries remain in contention for the 2016 Rio Olympics, and here are the two games to watch out for on the fourth day of the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Manila, Philippines (click here to watch the games).
Canada v New Zealand
Canada may have swept Group A, but they are sure to have their hands full with New Zealand. The Tall Blacks were mighty impressive in their masterful win over hosts Philippines, and they very nearly upended the French if not for some late game miscues. The Webster brothers, along with big man Isaac Fotu, need to bring their A-game if they are to make it past deep and athletic Canada, which are bannered by Cory Joseph and Tristan Thompson.
France v Turkey
It will be a rematch between teams who met in the Quarter-Finals of Eurobasket 2015. France blew out Turkey in that game, but coach Ergin Ataman’s 12 Giant Men are out to avenge that loss and put a damper in France’s Olympic hopes. For that to happen, twin towers Semih Erden and Omer Asik have to hold their own against coach Vincent Collet’s talent-laden squad led by Tony Parker, Nando De Colo and Boris Diaw. Also, it looks like Nicolas Batum will finally play!
