LONDON (Olympics) - It seems like only yesterday that the USA defeated Spain in front of a packed Wukesong Stadium in one of the greatest Olympic Basketball finals of all time.

Not since Barcelona had the USA assembled such a star-studded team, with the LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade leading the charge for a team nobody thought could be beaten.

And they weren't; but boy did Pau Gasol, Juan Carlos Navarro and co push them close.

It seems like only yesterday and yet tomorrow marks one year until the London 2012 Olympic Basketball tournament tips off at the Basketball Arena.

In the mean time, the entire Olympic movement is celebrating today's milestone: one year to go until the official beginning - and Opening Ceremony - of the 2012 Games.

Opening ceremonies provide any sports fan old enough to span at least a couple of Olympiads with marking memories, whether it be each country's top athlete leading their delegation by carrying their country's flag, the choreographies and shows involving thousands of dancers and performers or the magic moment when the Olympic Flame is lit.

Basketball fans will remember recently retired basketball legend Yao Ming leading the Chinese athletes as they entered the Bird's Nest in front of a nation whose long wait to host the world's biggest sporting event was finally over.

London will bring a different flavour to the Olympics as one of the planet's most cosmopolitan cities aims to further cement its reputation as one of the world's sporting capitals.

Many of the venues have already been completed, including the main Olympic Stadium (athletics) and the Basketball Arena.

To mark the occasion, organisers have launched the #yeartogo Who Are You Supporting? Twitter campaign, encouraging fans to express their support for their country, favourite athlete or simply reflect on the meaning of the Olympic Games by sharing photos, videos or a simple sentence with the rest of the world.

Team GB's Luol Deng introduces the organisers' 1 year to go video, which features also sprinter Usain Bolt as well as a host of other althletes, all explaining what the Olympics mean to each of them.

With just one year to go, join us in reflecting on what the Olympics mean to you, whether it is through a special memory, an athlete who inspires you and/or something in particular you are looking forward to next summer.

To mark the occasion, FIBA is also running a competition where you can win tickets to the Basketball test event, click here for further information.
