Australia and New Zealand dominant in group phase, Division B semi-finals set

SUVA (FIBA U18 Oceania Championship 2016) – New Zealand continued their run towards the Gold Medal match with a massive 115-point win over New Caledonia. New Zealand is trying to make a statement and show they mean business. Sam Waardenburg continued to impress with a 29 point, 10 rebound performance.

Guam has been the standout team of the tournament so far. Knocking off the hosts on day 1, taking to right at Australia on day 2 and now big win against Tahiti. The combination of great ball movement, textbook jump shots and killer crossovers has the crowd on the edge of their seat every time Guam hits the floor. Michael Min is solidifying himself as Guam’s general with another great performance, adding 18 points and 3 assists.

As competition starts to heat up, more and more people are piling into Vodafone arena to support the Fiji Men. Although there were some struggles on the offensive end, Fiji managed to hold Australia to their lowest score of the tournament so far. The Australian’s size and experience proved too much as they walked away with a comfortable win in the end. Jacob Rigoni ended the game with 17 points and 8 rebounds.
