LAGOS (DStv Premier League) – Police Baton are back at the top of the Atlantic conference standings in the Nigeria DStv Premier League after beating Nigeria Customs Service 70-64.

The Police looked shaky early on, trailing 21-13 at the end of the first quarter and were not that much better after a low-scoring second period as they went into halftime down by eight, 34-26.

Mark Balogun’s team turned the game around by accounting for 28 of the 43 combined points scored in the third quarter to go up 54-49 and Customs could not find enough firepower in the final frame to challenge their opponents.

Meanwhile, Union Bank overcame Ebun Comets for a 69-63 win that saw them climb to third place in the Atlantic conference table.

The bankers went up 28-20 at the break as the former league champions Comets struggled to get their offense going. That problem was fixed in the third quarter, as they outscored their opponents 23-16 to get within one, 44-43.

Union Bank kept their poise and thanks to the scoring punch of Samson John and Azuoma Dike – they combined for 28 points – held on for the win. Onyeka Ekpete played a key role too, grabbing 13 rebounds.

Comets rising star Obum Onyia led all scorers with 23 points.
