    NGR - Comets, Customs in VMobile Premier League opener

    LAGOS (VMobile Premier League) - Reigning Premier league champion, Ebun Comets basketball club of Lagos and Atlantic conference rival, Customs basketball club will Saturday light up the Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos in the opening game of the 2005/'06 VMobile premier league

    LAGOS (VMobile Premier League) - Reigning Premier league champion, Ebun Comets basketball club of Lagos and Atlantic conference rival, Customs basketball club will Saturday light up the Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos in the opening game of the 2005/'06 VMobile premier league.

    Comets parading a set of untested players is determined to give the border boys as Customs are called a run for their experience and money.

    The coached Ayo Bakare tutored boys said they are not scared by the experience the Customs players will bring to bear when both side clash in what promises to be a mother of all match come this Saturday.

    Oseer Ikyato recently acquired from Niger Potters of Minna and whose only competitive game so far was the 2005 VMobile/NBBF Challenge contest says he can not wait for the referees' to sound their whistle for the commencement of the encounter.

    "I am really looking forward to get into real competitive basketball match and I'm prepared to give my very best in that game against Customs and other teams in the league."

    "We have train very hard for the season to dunk off and I was happy when the cheering news came that the league would finally take-off," Ikyato said.

    Other pairing for the weekend include Islanders of Lagos against Delta Force basketball of Asaba and the local derby between Union Bank and Dodan Warriors basketball club in the Atlantic conference.

    And in the Savannah conference AHIP Giant basketball club of Kano will be at home in their real first taste of premier league action against Plateau Peaks basketball club of Jos, while old war horse Kano Pillars will take to the court against Yelwa Hawks basketball club of Bauchi also at the Sports Hall of the Kano stadium immediately after the AHIP/Peaks encounter. All matches are fixed for Sunday.
