    LAGOS (FIBA Africa Champions Club for Men Zone-3 qualifiers) - ASPAC basket club of Benin Friday romp into the last four of the FIBA Africa Champions Club Zone-3 qualifiers with a 57-52 pointʼs victory over Phenix basket club of Cocody, Cote dʼIvoire.

    The Cotonuo-based ASPAC whose assistant coach, Lamatu Tegbe had predicted that her team will make to the knock out stage beamed with great pride that her words came to pass as the Cotonuo, Benin Republic- based side make it to the semi-finals from group-B where it is likely to meet Union Bank basketball club of Nigeria.

    ASPAC won in the first and fourth quarters (13-09 and 16-08) while losing the second and third quarters (14-12 and 21-16) to their fallen opponent.

    Coach Lamatu the only female coach in the qualifiers told our correspondent that she is happy that her team made it to the last four as she vowed that nothing will stand in the way of her team from picking one of the tickets to the final round of the championship.

    Swallows also brightened its chances of making it to the semi-finals stage after seeing off Energie basket club of Benin.

    The Togolese who almost created an upset Thursday night when it scare host Union Bank basketball club in its second group-A game went past Energie (72-54), Energie does became the second team to kiss the qualifiers goodbye as it ended it campaign in the qualifiers without a win.

    Swallows won three of the four quarters leaving Energie with just one (22-15, 13-15, 18-11 and 19-13).
