LAGOS (FIBA Africa Champions Club) - Inspite of its shaky start in the final round of the 21st FIBA Africa Champions Club Cup Competition, Nigeria champion, Plateau Peak basketball club booked a hard earned quarter-final ticket beating Ivorian’s Africa Sports basketball club 84-67 points.

The coach Austin Gompil tutored side won three of the four-quarter matches (24-21, 16-18, 24-18 and 20-10) to take the sail out of the reach of the Musa Adamu tutored Africa Sports who were also in contention to qualify for the quarter-finals but were not that lucky as they fell to the more determined Nigerian who put everything into the game.

Peaks who now met Petro Atletico basketball club of Angola in the first quarter-finals Friday are not deterred by the pedigree of the Angolan who are one of the favouraites in the championship.

According to the team coach, Gompil, says the Angolan does not scare them.

“The Angolan does not scare us, yes they are a good side and will be meeting an equally good side, so fans should expect a good game from us against the more favoured”.

Coach Gompil also deny the imaginary sponsorship deal purported to have been brokered between the club and RedStar Express, saying the club management knows nothing about the said sponsorship.

Speaking shortly after the Peaks picked up a quarter-final ticket at the expense of Africa Sports of Cote d'Ivoire, that RedStar is only trying to reap where they did not sore.

Gompil said the team have know choice than to reject the items brought by the company.
