KATMANDU (3x3) - The first ever FIBA 3x3 Workshop held in Nepal on this week proved to be a resounding success as 3x3 basketball soars to new Himalayan heights.

The 25 participants, hailing from schools, universities, district basketball associations, the media and clubs - including several coaches and players - received useful information from the Secretary General Dinesh Thapa and from his counterpart Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha from the Nepal Olympic Committee.

The purpose of the Workshop was to help promote 3x3 Basketball and to introduce the participants to the local and international opportunities this discipline opens up for Nepal.

In recent months, the Nepalese Basketball Association and the Nepal Olympic Committee have begun heavily promoting 3x3 Basketball, with National championships having been played at U19 and senior level, while in June of this year the second edition of the U19 NOBEL CUP was held.

Having been invited to take part in the first edition of the 3x3 Youth World Championships, Nepal will have a chance to compete on the international stage alongside 35 other boys' teams from all around the world.

The Championship, which also includes a girl's tournament, will take place in Rimini, Italy, 9-11 September and host teams from 40 countries.
