    NBA - Suns conjure up Magic victory

    NEW YORK (NBA) - Raja Bell scored 20 points while Amare Stoudemire added 19 and 10 rebounds as the Phoenix Suns completed a season series sweep of the Orlando Magic with a 110-106 win on Friday. Orlando All-Star forward Dwight Howard collected 30 points, a season's best 23 boards and two blocks to outshine Stoudemire in the paint.

     

    NEW YORK (NBA) - Raja Bell scored 20 points while Amare Stoudemire added 19 and 10 rebounds as the Phoenix Suns completed a season series sweep of the Orlando Magic with a 110-106 win on Friday.

    Orlando All-Star forward Dwight Howard collected 30 points, a season's best 23 boards and two blocks to outshine Stoudemire in the paint.

    The Magic's Rashard Lewis sank two from the line to make it an one-point game with 11 seconds remaining, but then rushed a three-pointer from the top of the key before Steve Nash hit two free throws in the waning seconds to seal victory for the Suns.

    Paul Pierce scored 27 points and Kevin Garnett added 23 and nine rebounds to lead the Boston Celtics to a 95-85 victory over the Miami Heat.

    Ray Allen added 17 points despite shooting just 3-of-17 from the floor for Boston, who forced 24 turnovers en route to a second straight win.

    The Celtics held a healthy 28-point lead late in the third quarter but the Heat produced a spirited run in the final period to ensure Boston endured a nervy finale.

    Manu Ginobili recorded his best haul of the season with 31 points as the San Antonio Spurs erased a 14-point third-quarter deficit to overcome the Minnesota Timberwolves 106-91.

    Kevin Durant scored a career-best 35 points to power the Seattle Supersonics to their first home win of the season with a 95-93 triumph over the Indiana Pacers.

    Carlos Delfino scored 13 of his 24 points in the second quarter and Andrea Bargnani netted a personal best of 26 points as the Toronto Raptors posted a 91-82 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, who were without superstar LeBron James.

    Jamal Crawford nailed a crucial jumper and reserve Fred Jones starred at both ends of the floor as the New York Knicks recorded a 91-88 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

    Point guard Deron Williams scored a personal best of 35 points and Andrei Kirilenko finished with a triple-double as the Utah Jazz took apart the visiting Los Angeles Lakers 120-96 without Carlos Boozer.

    Allen Iverson scored 26 points and Carmelo Anthony added 24 as the Denver Nuggets dealt the Los Angeles Clippers their fourth straight loss with a 123-107 triumph.

    Josh Howard scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks cruised past the Portland Trail Blazers 91-80.

    Samuel Dalembert bagged 19 points and 11 rebounds and inspired a late run with both his offence and defence as the Philadelphia 76ers pulled out an 85-84 victory over the Washington Wizards.

    David West scored 12 of his 22 points in the third quarter and Chris Paul added 20 to lead the New Orleans Hornets to a 92-86 triumph over the Atlanta Hawks.
