MIAMI (NBA) - Dirk Nowitzki came through the pain barrier to end the Dallas Mavericks' hurt in Miami.

Nowitzki capped a stunning rally by scoring the winning lay-up with his injured left hand 3.6 seconds from time as the Mavericks won Game 2 of the NBA Finals 95-93 to tie the series at 1-1.

Games 3, 4 and 5 are in Dallas, starting on Sunday.

It was Dallas' first win on the Heat's court in the post-season.

When the two teams met in the 2006 Finals, the Mavs lost three straight in Miami.

The visitors were made to work hard for this one, coming back from 15 points down in the fourth quarter.

Nowitzki, who finished with 24 points, scored Dallas' last nine points, including two baskets with the left hand in which he tore a tendon in Game 1.

That contributed to a 22-5 Dallas run as they erased a 15-point fourth quarter deficit for a second time this post-season.

They had previously done so against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.

"It was definitely a huge comeback for us and we never gave up, and that was big," said Nowitzki.

"I thought defensively we really got into them. We pressured them full court and we scrambled defensively. We even gave up some offensive rebounds, but we kept scrambling."

Dwyane Wade hit a corner three-pointer to put Miami up 88-73 with about seven minutes left to play.

Dallas didn't give up though, instead going on a furious run - spearheaded by Jason Terry and Nowitzki - to take lead 93-90.

Mario Chalmers tied it with a corner three, Miami's only field goal of the final seven minutes.

But Nowitzki had the final say, spinning his way around Chris Bosh and then banking a lefty lay-up over Udonis Haslem.

Wade, who finished with 36 points, missed a desperation three-pointer at the buzzer.

LeBron James finished with 20 points.

"We just didn't execute down the stretch," said Bosh.

"There's no shock. There's disappointment. But the reality is the reality. We might as well get used to it and focus on the next one."

Dallas got 20 points from Shawn Marion, and 16 from Terry.
