PORTLAND (NBA) - Orlando edged Portland and San Antonio defeated Dallas in games featuring many of FIBA's biggest stars.
Hedo Turkoglu, the Turkey international who will be one of the 2010 FIBA World Championship's most prominent figures when the competition is staged in his country, had 27 points for Orlando (17-5) in their 109-108 triumph at in-form Portland (15-8).
The forward's most important contribution came in the final second when he banked in a three-ball from 25 feet.
Dwight Howard of Team USA contributed 14 points and seven rebounds for Orlando.
Sergio Rodriguez of Spain, who has been pining for playing time, was on the court for nearly 25 minutes and had 14 points with seven assists for the Blazers.
Rudy Fernandez, his fellow Spain international who went up against Howard and the Americans in the gold medal game at the Olympics, scored 10 points, dished out four assists and pulled down four boards.
Brandon Roy led the Blazers with 30 points and LaMarcus Aldridge had 25 with 13 rebounds.
San Antonio (12-8) won 133-126 at Dallas with Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan leading the way.
Parker, the France point guard, had 29 points and 10 assists while Argentina star Ginobili scored 18, handed out eight assists and grabbed six rebounds.
Former Team USA center Duncan top the scoring for the Spurs with 32 points and also hauled in 14 boards.
Germany's Dirk Nowitzki did his best for Dallas (11-9) with 35 points and 10 rebounds and Puerto Rico's Jose Barea scored 21 with six assists and five boards but their output wasn't enough.
Team USA's Jason Kidd also finished two rebounds shy of a triple-double for the Mavs.
He ended up with 24 points, 12 helpers and eight rebounds.
