CHICAGO (NBA) - Luol Deng and Derrick Rose propelled the Chicago Bulls to a 103-82 rout of the Miami Heat in the opening game of the Eastern Conference Finals on Sunday.
Knotted at 48-48 at half-time, the Bulls outscored the Heat 24-15 in the third quarter and then lowered the boom in the fourth by scoring 31 points.
Chicago hit 10 of their 21 shots from beyond the arc, with Deng (21 points) going four of six while Rose (28pts) was three of seven.
The Bulls did much of their damage on the offensive boards, grabbing 19 to just just six for Miami.
Those rebounds led to 31 second-chance points for Chicago.
Joakim Noah had 14 rebounds to go with his nine points for the home side.
Miami's LeBron James, guarded much of the night by Deng and held to just 15 points, said Chicago's tenacity on the offensive glass was a key.
"You play defense hard and the shot goes up and they get an offensive rebound, kick it out for a three or get a layup or a dunk," James said.
"Those are demoralizing for a defensive team. We've got to figure out a way to clean that up."
Chris Bosh finished with a game-high 30 points for Miami, who will try to level the series on Wednesday in Chicago.
