    CHARLOTTE (NBA) - The Charlotte Bobcats upset the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday to close the gap on the Chicago Bulls in the race for the last play-off spot in the Eastern Conference.

    Larry Brown's team won 94-84 with Gerald Wallace pouring in 21 points and France international Boris Diaw 11 while also dishing out 12 assists.

    Charlotte (34-40) completed a two-game sweep of the Lakers this season and moved to within one game of the Eastern Conference’s eighth-place side Chicago (36-40), who lost 107-105 at Indiana.

    The Bobcats also gained ground on seventh-place Detroit after the Pistons (36-38) slipped up 79-73 at Cleveland.

    Los Angeles, who have already clinched the Western Conference title, fell to 58-16.
