DALLAS (NBA) - Jason Terry came to the rescue and fired the injury-ravaged Dallas Mavericks to victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night.
Terry poured in 12 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Mavs to an 84-81 triumph over the visiting Blazers.
Dallas superstar Dirk Nowitzki of Germany is injured and the team also discovered earlier Tuesday that Caron Butler will miss the remainder of the campaign following knee surgery.
France international Rodrigue Beaubois got hurt last summer and has yet to play in 2010-11 for Dallas.
But Terry, who struggled for the first three quarters, caught fire in the fourth as the Mavs improved to 26-8 and dropped Portland to 18-17.
Tyson Chandler, a gold-medal winner with Team USA last summer at the FIBA World Championship in Turkey, had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Dallas.
"The fourth quarter is [Terry's] show," Chandler said.
"He's done it over and over. He's so clutch, so much fun to watch."
The New York Knicks cooled off San Antonio, winning 128-115 in the Big Apple.
The Knicks (20-14) got 31 points and nine boards from Wilson Chandler while the Spurs (29-5) were led by Tony Parker's 26 points.
Miami stayed red hot with a 101-89 home triumph over Milwaukee.
LeBron James poured in 25 points and had nine assists for the Heat (28-9), who have now won 19 of their last 20 games.
The Bucks fell to 13-19.
Chicago don't have injured big man Joakim Noah but continue to win without the Frenchman.
The Raptors fell at the Bulls on Tuesday, 111-91.
Chicago have now won 14 of their last 16 games.
Great Britain international Luol Deng had 24 points and Team USA's Derrick Rose scored 19 and handed out six assists.
Memphis (16-19) followed up their upset of the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center with a 110-105 triumph over Oklahoma City (23-13).
Pau Gasol had 21 points as the Lakers bounced back from their setback to the Grizzlies with a 108-83 victory over Detroit.
The Atlanta Hawks (23-14) blew a 20-point fourth quarter lead at Sacramento (7-25) but then made 10 straight free-throws and won 108-102.
