HOUSTON (NBA) - The Houston Rockets are out of this world!

The club won for the 22nd consecutive game on Sunday by beating the Pau Gasol-less Los Angeles Lakers 104-92.

Spain superstar Gasol sprained his ankle in LA’s previous game and is out indefinitely.

The Rockets, who have lost Yao Ming for the season, have excelled without the China national team center.

Tracy McGrady and Luis Scola have done most of the damage offensively since Yao’s departure but on Sunday, Rafer Alston sparked the team with 31 points.

Alston buried eight of 11 from behind the arc and 10 of 22 from the floor overall while Bobby Jackson came off the bench to contribute 19.

The Lakers held McGrady to just 11 points on four of 16 shooting and limited Scola to 13 after he made three of nine from the floor.

Argentina national team star Scola was still effective, leading the team with 11 rebounds.

The win has given the Rockets the best record in the Western Conference at 46-20 while dropping the Lakers to 45-21.

In another early Sunday game, the Detroit Pistons won 105-84 at home against the high-flying New Orleans Hornets.
