YAOUNDE (AfroBasket Women 2015) Less than 24 hours after losing to hosts Cameroon, Mozambique bounced back to win their first AfroBasket Women 2015 Group A game in Yaounde, Cameroon.

Filomena Micato led Mozambique with a game-high 15 points as Mozambique trounced Uganda 73-50 to improve their group mark to 1-1.

Turning Point: Uganda used a 6-0 run to close the half trailing 33-30, but the runners-up of AfroBasket Women 2013 regrouped to deny the Eastern African's first win in the group. Mozambique entered the final with a comfortable 57-39 lead, and they never looked back again.

Stats Don't Lie: Mozambique displayed some sloppy plays, turning the ball over 28 times, but making 7 of their 28 three-point attempts sparked Nazir Sale’s team to a comfortable victory.

Game Hero: Just the way she did against Cameroon, Ingvild Mucauro sparked Mozambique’s offense, making 5 of her 9 field-goal shooting as she finished with 13 points in 15:33 minutes.

Bottom Line: While Uganda never really posed a threat, Mozambique controlled the entire the contest as they continue their journey to reach the Final Phase.
Uganda, on the other hand, are yet to win a game, and they desperately need to play disciplined and more tactical basketball.
Moreen Amoding and Martha Soigi finished with 12 points apiece, however, improving their free-throws shooting (4 for 13 against Mozambique) would boost their aspirations in the competition.
