PODGORICA (EuroBasket 2011) - Any hopes that Dusko Vujosevic would return as the coach of Montenegro following his departure from CSKA Moscow have died following the basketball federation’s announcement that Dejan Radonjic is to lead the side at the EuroBasket in Lithuania.

Vujosevic steered Montenegro to promotion to Division A and then led them to a first-place finish in Group A last summer in EuroBasket 2011 qualifying.

Earlier this season, while at the helm of a struggling CSKA, Vujosevic stepped down from the national team post in order to focus on his club duties.

Radonjic, who led Montenegro’s under-20 side and was the trusted assistant of Vujosevic, now has the senior team reins.

"It is my honor and pleasure to have been appointed as coach of the senior team," he said.

"I thank the leaders of the alliance for giving me their trust because it's an honor to lead the national team at the first big competition.

"About our ambitions at the European Championship in Lithuania, we can speak only after the draw on January 30, but what is certain is that we will go to the competition with a desire to show our best."

Last summer, Montenegro finished top of Group A ahead of Israel, Italy, Latvia and Finland.
