SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO (Cibacopa) - Vaqueros from Agua Prieta secured their place in Mexico's Cibacopa league season finals with a sweeping 4-0 win over San Luis-based Colorados.
The North Zone finals saw Vaqueros win the deciding tie by claiming the last two victories as visitors in San Luis, after the 113-112 and 106-97 wins in the opening games of the tie played in Agua Prieta last week.
On Friday, Colorados were leading Game Three by 15 points at the end of the third quarter, but a tremendous fourth period by Vaqueros sent the game to overtime after a 103-103 draw.
Carrying the momentum, Vaqueros went on to romp it 119-108.
Trash Myles' 43 points, including 10 three-pointers, and Jeff Agba's 29 points did the damage.
Saturday night's game was not so even, as Vaqueros won more comfortably, 113-99, to become North Zone champions.
Myles was again unstoppable at Vaqueros, with 39 points and 10 three-pointers once more.
Vaqueros are now waiting for the South Zone champions to play the best-of-seven finals.
That tie still has at least two games to be played, as Trigueros from Ciudad Obregon and
Culiacan-based Caballeros are tied 2-2.
After the two triumphs Trigueros claimed at home last week, Caballeros managed to level the tie at home at the weekend.
On Friday, 24 points from Victor Avila led Caballeros to the 102-72 win in Game Three, while on Saturday, the Culiacan-based team won 96-91 to stay alive in the tie, helped by Joe
Chapman's game-high 30 points.
