    MEX - Top two march on in Mexico

    CIUDAD OBREGON (Cibacopa) - Colorados and Vaqueros continue their fight at the top of the Mexican Cibacopa league North Zone after claiming two victories each to move them onto 52 points

    CIUDAD OBREGON (Cibacopa) - Colorados and Vaqueros continue their fight at the top of the Mexican Cibacopa league North Zone after claiming two victories each to move them onto 52 points.

    However, the San Luis-based team suffered mixed fortunes and despite their two wins, also encountered back-to-back losses.

    Over the weekend, they beat Marineros twice starting with a 109-78 win on Friday. A day later they managed a 114-109 triumph over the Guaymas team.

    Despite these wins, a double-header in midweek saw them outdone when they travelled to Mazatlan and Culiacan respectively.

    On Tuesday, Tiburones turned them over, winning 114-106 despite a whopping 44 points coming from Colorados star Joe Adkins. Twenty-four hours later they lost out to Caballeros, 112-101.

    Vaqueros, meanwhile, recorded two wins and a loss from their three games this week - both home wins at the weekend against Nogales-based Fuerza Guinda.

    On Friday, the Agua Prieta team claimed a narrow 104-99 victory, before following it up with a 98-88 triumph.

    However, they were stunned by the South Zone`s worst team, Paskolas, in midweek, going down 99-90 to the team with a 7-25 campaign.

    Fuerza Guinda are third in the table with 49 points, three below the leading pair, while Mineros (45 points) are fourth.

    In the South Zone, Trigueros stand alone at the summit with 58 points after three wins out of four in the latest round of action.

    On Friday, the Ciudad Obregon team thumped Pioneros 117-87, but suffered a reversal 24 hours later when beaten 94-85 in Los Mochis.

    Then on Tuesday, Maurice Riddick poured in 35 points to help Trigueros edge Cananea-based Mineros 107-106.

    A day later they claimed a home victory over Vaqueros 98-83, with Riddick again leading from the front with 35 points, while Leroy Davis added 23.

    Caballeros are second in the Zone on 57 points, one below the leaders, with Frayles and Tiburones sharing third place on 52 points.
