    MEX - Mexico, Cuba book final showdown

    MEXICO CITY (Centrobasket Women) - Mexico will face Cuba in the final of the Centrobasket Women tournament with both sides also securing their places in next year's FIBA Americas Championship

    MEXICO CITY (Centrobasket Women) - Mexico will face Cuba in the final of the Centrobasket Women tournament with both sides also securing their places in next year's FIBA Americas Championship.

    Hosts Mexico defeated Puerto Rico 72-69 in the semi-finals, thanks to 29 points from top-scorer Erika Gomez.

    Cuba then secured their place in the final showdown as they saw off Jamaica to claim a 87-64 victory.

    Puerto Rico and Jamaica will meet on Thursday night in the third-place play-off, with the final berth in the FIBA Americas Championship awaiting the winners.

    Elsewhere, Barbados destroyed Costa Rica 74-31, with Wanda Maynard Morris and Jamila Griffith both pouring in 18 points, and the US Virgin Islands beat El Salvador 73-49.

    The US Virgin Islands and Barbados will meet in the fifth place play-off which sees the winner take the final spot in the Central American and the Carib Sport Games in Colombia.

    Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Jamaica have already secured their places in the tournament.
