The Xalapa outfit took the lead thanks to a 113-90 victory in which Samuel Bowie top-scored with 27 points, but Bucaneros surprisingly equalised the tie by winning game two 97-87.

They won game three 100-80, with 23 points by Victor Avila, while on Wednesday night they claimed a 96-77 win and qualification thanks to Omar Lopez’s 25 points.

Halcones will now meet Panteras after the Aguascalientes-based squad came from two games down to beat Halcones from Veracruz 3-2.

Halcones took the lead by winning the first two games of the series 99-72 and 106-97, but when the tie moved to Aguascalientes things turned around sharply.

Devon Ford, with 35 points and six rebounds, helped Panteras reduce the deficit with a 108-87 triumph in game three.

And Ford was also crucial in game four, as he top-scored with 40 points to help his team win 96-92 and level proceedings.

Finally in game five, played on Wednesday night, Panteras won by two, 97-95, to make the semi-finals.

Cometas, meanwhile, made it into the South Zone semi-finals by defeating La Ola Roja 3-2.
