VERACRUZ (FIBA Americas League) - Halcones Rojos boss Manolo Cintron is giving his players a well-deserved rest after their successful qualification for the FIBA Americas League Final Four.

The Veracruz outfit hosted Group E and advanced along with Capitanes de Arecibo while two-time winners  of the competition, Penarol of Argentina, and Brazilians Flamengo, did not.

The Final Four will be staged March 4-6.

Halcones are desperate to win the FIBA Americas League because they came up short in Mexico's LNBP play-offs after falling to Xalapa.

"We are happy because we achieved one of the goals," said Cintron, the former national team coach of Puerto Rico who led the team at last year's FIBA World Championship.

"We are among the best teams in America, we got one of two goals and this tournament is very important.

"We wanted the national tournament but we are one of the best four teams in America and that says a lot."

The Halcones Rojos players will take a break before returning to practice on February 20.
