BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA WASL-Gulf League is still in its early stages, with the 2024/2025 season - opening next week - set to be its third.
Even then, Manama have already solidified themselves as one of the flagship teams of the competition with their impressive record and profile over the years.
After back-to-back seasons of making it to the Sub-Zone League Finals, and having etched its name in history as the first-ever FIBA WASL champions, fans already know to expect excellence from the Bahraini ball club - as they should.
History
Founded in 1946, Manama Club have been a cornerstone of Bahraini sports, fielding successful teams across multiple disciplines, including football.
However, basketball has been the crown jewel of their achievements. Manama are the most decorated team in the history of the Bahraini Premier League, with an impressive 25 championships to their name - and counting.
Their dominance extends beyond the league, having captured numerous domestic honors such as the BBA Cup and BBA Super Cup as well.
2023 was a historic year for the club, as they claimed a rare 'treble' after winning the inaugural FIBA WASL crown, the Premier League, and the Khalifa bin Salman Cup.
Manama have also made its mark on the international stage, having competed in prestigious tournaments such as the FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2023 in Singapore.
Emblem
Manama updated their logo just last season, moving on from the classic shield-like crest that they had used for a long time by going with a more modern emblem.
Homecourt
Manama play their home games at the BBA Arena, also known as the Zain Basketball Arena.
Path to 2024/2025 FIBA WASL
Manama completed a "three-peat" in the Zain Bahrain Basketball League, still being only one of two teams to have achieved as much in the domestic competition.
They started their season with 13 straight wins and suffered only one loss heading into the Finals. Going up against Al Ahli. Manama suffered a loss in Game 3 of the Finals, which was their only road bump on their way to winning the title once again - securing their ticket for a third straight FIBA WASL-Gulf campaign, too.
