BEIRUT (Lebanon) - Clubs from Kuwait have made their presences felt in FIBA WASL - Gulf, with two titles won by Kuwait Club and a third-place finish by Kazma.
This 2024/2025 season, a new Kuwaiti club will look to carry on the tradition as they are set to make their league debut - Al Qadsia SC.
As one of Kuwait’s most storied sports clubs, Al Qadsia’s debut is expected to come with a clear objective: to assert their dominance on a regional scale.
The team is one of the most successful in the country, and now, they enter the 2024/2025 competitions determined to build on their rich legacy and secure their place among the elite once again.
History
Founded in 1953 and renamed in 1960, Al Qadsia Sports Club has a deep-rooted history in Kuwaiti sports, especially in football and basketball. The hoops program has been a key part of this success with a solid Kuwaiti Basketball League track record.
The club boasts a domestic league championship in 2016 and runner-up finishes in four other occasions, underlining their stature as one of Kuwait’s top teams. Surely, they’re keen to replicate that success in the 2024/2025 FIBA WASL season.

Path to 2024/2025 FIBA WASL
Al Qadsia’s journey to their FIBA WASL Gulf League debut was paved by another impressive season in the Kuwaiti Basketball League.
After multiple heartbreaking seasons, Al Qadsia finally made it past the Semi-Final of the league Play-Offs in 2024. This meant taking down Kazma, who had played in the previous two WASL - Gulf seasons, in a best-of-three series that went the distance.
They'd however be swept in the Finals by Kuwait Club, but making it to that stage of the competition meant that they had already secured their spot in WASL - Gulf.
