NOUAKCHOTT (Mauritania) – Finally, the turnaround is complete for the Mauritania Basketball Federation(FBBRIM).
The FBBRIM President Youssouf Fall can now proudly beat his chest that the vision he conceptualized some three years ago to build a befitting abode basketball in the country has finally come to fruition.
It was back in 2016 during a speech at the Ordinary General Assembly, Fall set himself the goal of providing his association with a seat during its first term of office, that he first came up with the idea to put up a structure that would cater for the needs of the game.
On Tuesday, January 29, the dream came to pass as the new headquarters was unveiled. That date is to be written in gold letters in the history of the Mauritanian basketball.
"WE CAN PROUDLY SAY WE HAVE A PLACE OF OUR OWN. WE CAN HOLD OUR MEETINGS CONVENIENTLY AND DISCUSS THE WAY FORWARD FOR OUR BASKETBALL DEVELOPMENT"
The FBBRIM opened its very first seat (inheritance), in 59 years of independence. It is a symbolic. A brand new building consisting of two large rooms (meeting and training called Tatum Fire), offices reserved for the president, the secretary general and the various commissions and stores.
The festive atmosphere that greeted the event from the basketball family was simply overwhelming.
The unveiling of the headquarters was done by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ms. Djindah Mohamed El Moustapha Bal and was accompanied by FBBRIM President Fall to the applause of the audience.
Magnifying the action of his predecessors, the current executive has decided to pay a tribute to former presidents whose portraits hold the high ground.

This new headquarters, acquired by the Federation, provides the necessary means, through equipment necessary for a better organization of work, and optimize the administrative and financial management of the National Basketball. This new, beautiful and functional facility is an example. It reflects the renewal of Mauritanian Basketball.
And Fall told FIBA.basketball that unveiling of the headquarters for basketball is very dear to his heart.
"This project is one that all basketball people are proud of because this is the first time since our independence that we can proudly say we have a place of our own. We can hold our meetings conveniently and discuss the way forward for our basketball development."

With the Headquarters set, Fall is not done yet as he says his next target is the realization of a befitting arena for the game in Mauritania.
"The game also needs to have an arena so that we play and develop young players. In March, we’re organizing a championship for U20 girls, and there is also a need to develop technically our referees, coaches and others. It will take some time but ultimately, we hope to get there," he concluded.
