    Marcelo Bedoya is the new Consubasquet President

    ASUNCION - Paraguay hosted the XXXII Election Assembly of the South American Basketball Confederation (Consubasquet) at the Sheraton Hotel.

    Present at the Assembly where the FIBA President Mr. Horacio Muratore, FIBA Vice President Mr. Hamane Niang, FIBA Secretary General Mr. Andreas Zagklis, FIBA Americas President Mr. Usie Richards, FIBA Americas Executive Director Mr. Carlos Alves and representatives of nine of the ten National Federations of South America.

    Paraguayan Marcelo Bedoya was chosen to command Consubasquet in the 2019-2022 period, succeeding the Brazilian Gerasime Bozikis. Elected as Vice President was Marcelo Correa de Sousa (Brazil), Marco Arze (Bolivia) in the position of Treasurer and José Arevalo (Ecuador) as Secretary.

    "I'm happy and grateful for everything I've experienced. I hope to have enough health to reach a good level in these 4 years with the team that accompanies me," said Bedoya.

    "I feel excited and happy for all that has been lived, this has been unanimously, and it will make South America basketball grow a lot. They have my full support," Muratore added.

    Last Thursday the leaders arrived in the city of Asunción, and on Friday the CPB, presided over by Ochipinti, distinguished Horacio Muratore and Gerasime Bozikis.

    Over the course of the weekend, the FIBA delegation was also received by the Sports Minister of Paraguay, Fátima Morales, and the group had the opportunity to appreciate the brand-new SND Arena. Then the leaders visited the museum of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol).
