VILNIUS (LKL) – The recently appointed coaching tandem of Aleksandar Trifunovic and Darius Maskoliunas have yet to taste victory together at Lietuvos Rytas, but the latter has presided over a win at the club.

With Trifunovic yet to join the team, assistant coach Maskoliunas walked the sidelines and watched as the Vilnius giants won 75-68 at Klaipeda on Tuesday.

Bosnia and Herzegovina international Kenan Bajramovic poured in 18 points for the winners, who improved to 2-0.

Drazen Anzulovic began the season as the Lietuvos Rytas head coach but parted with the club after a difficult pre-season and a VTB United League defeat to CSKA Moscow on the opening day of that competition.

Trifunovic was expected to be at the helm for Lietuvos Rytas’ next game.

Zalgiris, meanwhile, the club that Maskoliunas led last season until he was dumped during the LKL Finals against Lietuvos Rytas, routed Juventus Utena 96-56.

The victory was a fourth straight for the Kaunas club.

Paulius Jankunas, one of Lithuania’s star performers at the FIBA World Championship this summer in Turkey, had 20 points to lead Zalgiris.
