VILNIUS (National Team) - Former Lithuania international Arvydas Macijauskas made the painful decision recently to cut short his career as a player due to injuries.

He is already making inroads in his attempt to become a coach after being appointed as an assistant at Perlas Vilnius in the LKL.

Macijauskas will assist Nerijus Zabarauskas at Perlas.

Perlas’ director Giedrius Aidietis said: “I think that Perlas is the ideal place for a beginner coach to both give something to the players and get some knowledge as well.”

Macijauskas is thrilled to be offered the opportunity of assisting Nerijus Zabarauskas at Perlas.

“The team offered me the chance to join and I happily accepted,” Macijauskas said.

“One stage of my life ended, the other will begin in a short while. I want to help younger players and learn a lot myself.”
