BADALONA (ACB) - Lithuania international Simas Jasaitis is ready to leave his Olympic disappointment in the past and focus on his new career at DKV Joventut in Spain’s ACB where he will team up Beijing Games foe Ricky Rubio.
Jasaitis, a 26-year-old forward, had an outstanding semi-final against Spain but his 19-point performance (he drilled five threes) wasn’t enough for the Baltic giants in a 91-86 defeat, and they followed that up with a bronze-medal game setback to Argentina.
"I arrive at Badalona having played at the Olympics and I join DKV Joventut to continue to play in Spain,” said Jasaitis, who spent last year at Tau Ceramica.
His season was dogged by injury.
“It wasn´t a difficult decision to sign for this club,” he said. “I believe we will have a good team and the ACB is a good competition.
“I arrive at DKV with a lot of enthusiasm after last season which wasn´t that good for me, so I hope for the best with this new experience.”
Rubio, just 17, played a starring role for Spain as they won the silver medal.
"I know Ricky Rubio after facing him two years ago with Maccabi (Tel Aviv), and also recently in Beijing,” Jasaitis said.
"He is a player with great future and one that can do things well.”
