ISTANBUL (Türkiye) - The FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2026 started off in spectacular fashion as Jokubas Kukta of Lithuania just missed registering the second triple-double in the history of the compeititon in a thrilling 103-89 win over Canada.
The Lithuanian captain shined with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists as the Europeans pulled away with a 38-18 fourth quarter. He had 8 points as Lithuania finished the game on a 30-14 run over the final 6 minutes.
He produced an Efficiency rating of 38 in just under 26 minutes on the floor.

There has been only one triple-double in the history of the event, dating back to 2010. Aljosa Jankovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina tallied 15 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists in a Classification 9-12 game against Dominican Republic in 2016.
