    Day 1 of the FIBA U18 EuroBasket had plenty of great performances - team and individual.

    BELGRADE (Serbia) - The exciting summer of action continued with opening day of the FIBA U18 EuroBasket 2025 on Saturday.

    Hosts Serbia were among the winners whereas defending champions Germany were tripped up and Lithuania put on a record-breaking show.

    Top Performers

    Slovenia didn't waste any time in their opening game with a dominant 105-52 triumph over Belgium. Ian Lazarevski scored 18 points as he made 7 of 9 shots as well as 2 of 3 free throws to go with 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 1 block. All that gave the forward an efficiency of 30 off the Slovenian bench.

    A big performance by Aldin Turkoglu was needed for Türkiye in their Group B opener against Austria with the favorites up by just two points late in the third quarter. But Turkoglu ended up with 18 points on perfect 8 of 8 shooting from the field while also gathering 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block for an efficiency of 29 in a 92-67 victory.

    Spain had little trouble in defeating Latvia 103-73 in Group D and one of the reasons was Diego Niebla. The power forward poured in 22 points and also picked up 9 rebounds and 2 steals in producing an efficiency of 27.

    Lithuania put together a historic 137-62 win over North Macedonia with a record 41 assists while nine players scored in double figures. One of them was Ignas Urbonas, who collected 16 points, 2 rebounds, 7 assists (with 0 turnovers) and 4 steals. That resulted in an efficiency of 25.

    France also rolled to an easy victory in their opener, beating Sweden 94-43 in Group B. Adam Atamna needed only 15 minutes to tally 18 points - with 3 three-pointers - 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 5 steals to register an efficiency of 23.
