BEIRUT (Lebanon) – The line-up for the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers Second Round has been confirmed following the completion of the First Round of competition at four different venues on Monday.
Dubai in UAE hosted the Group A competition comprising five teams, from where Bahrain, UAE and Kuwait qualified for the Second Round.
There were five teams in action in Group B at Almaty in Kazakhstan too. Palestine, Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka earned their tickets to the Second Round from Almaty.
Group C and Group D in Seremban (Malaysia) and Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) each had four teams in the fray.
Hong Kong, China were joined by SEABA duo Malaysia and Indonesia as the teams to qualify from Seremban. Another SEABA team, Thailand, led the march from Ulaanbaatar along with Mongolia and Fiji.
All teams carry forward their results from the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers First Round and play against teams from another group in the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers Second Round, to be played during the International Window between Nov 23-Dec 1, 2026.
The top four teams from each group in the Second Round will make it to the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Qualifiers, joining the sixteen automatically qualified teams – by virtue of their participation in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) – in the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Qualifiers.
The FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Qualifiers will comprise three International Windows followed by two FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Qualifying Tournaments for third-placed teams to ascertain the sixteen teams that will feature in the FIBA Asia Cup 2029.
