SHENZHEN (China) – With six FIBA Women’s Asia Cup appearances under her belt since 2015, Lin Yu-Ting has become synonymous with Chinese Taipei’s women’s basketball journey. This year, playing for the very first time in Division B, Lin brings a wealth of experience and leadership as she strives to guide her team back to Division A—the place where she believes the future of Chinese Taipei basketball lies.
Lin’s game is marked by a smooth, controlled approach that blends strong ball handling, smart court vision and scoring versatility. Whether hitting timely three-pointers or slicing through defenses for layups, Lin orchestrates offense with poise. Her ability to snag rebounds despite being a guard also adds valuable depth to Chinese Taipei’s efforts on the glass.
"My first five Women’s Asia Cup appearances were in Division A. Now, it’s Division B, and I want to put this team back in Division A," Lin said, reflecting on the motivation that fuels her play. "It’s an important and beautiful moment for us if we go back to Division A. It means our young generation can play against the elite teams and players."
Throughout her decade-plus international career, including playing at the youth level, Lin has been a consistent presence in Chinese Taipei’s lineups at Asia Cups, Olympic qualifiers and even youth level tournaments. Her leadership has shone brightest during high-pressure situations when experience and calm decision-making are at a premium.
Averaging 9.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.8 three-pointers per game at the FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2025 Division B, Lin continues to deliver steady production in every facet of the game. For a team hungry to regain its elite status, her ability to set the tone and dictate pace is invaluable.
Beyond stats, Lin’s desire to help young players develop by exposing them to top competition highlights her role as a mentor and catalyst for the team’s future success. Her cool demeanor and veteran savvy provide the foundation on which Chinese Taipei hope to rebuild.
As Division B reaches its finale, Lin Yu-Ting is determined to restore her team’s place among Asia’s top competitors. With just one game left standing between Chinese Taipei and a return to Division A, Lin is intent on guiding her squad to finish what they started.
