BEIRUT (FLB Divn A League) - Lebanese Super Cup winners Champville pulled away in the late stages of the first quarter and never looked back as they beat Moutahed 90-65 in Game 1 of their Lebanese Division A League Final Four series.

Talismanic player Fadi El Khatib (pictured) poured in a game-high 31 points on 14 of 21 shooting to lead Champville, while Americans Lee Benson and Tyrone Anderson played their roles to perfection on both ends of the floor.

Benson had game-highs of 23 rebounds and five blocks to go with his 14 points.

Anderson was equally effective in all areas of the game with 20 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block.

Having sparred equally in the first five minutes, Champville unleashed a 14-0 run, which helped them to a 12-point lead. Ghassan Sarkis’ team had no trouble after that.

Austin Johnson paced Moutahed with 20 points. Bassel Bawji was the only other player to score in the double digits for former Lebanese National Team coach Paul Coughter’s team.

    Game 2 is on Saturday.
