    Level 2 Sports Performance Specialist program hosted in Manama

    BEIRUT (Lebanon) - FIBA Regional Office-Asia successfully organized a Sports Performance Specialist (SPS) workshop last October 12-14 in Manama, Bahrain.

    BEIRUT (Lebanon) - FIBA Regional Office-Asia successfully organized a Sports Performance Specialist (SPS) workshop last October 12-14 in Manama, Bahrain.

    Made possible in cooperation with the Bahrain Basketball Association, 12 participants took part in the Level 2 course aimed to equip coaches, athletes, and stakeholders with knowledge and skills to improve athletic capabilities and prevent injuries in basketball.

    Taught through theoretical and practical sessions, the SPS program is part of FIBA’s initiative to strengthen local coaches' physical training skills and promote strength and conditioning in basketball.

    Sasa Peric, an attendee of the three-day program, believes that the lessons would help him a great deal being the physiotherapist of the Bahraini national basketball team.

    "From start to finish, this course provided me with additional knowledge and skills that I can confidently apply in my professional work as a Sports Physiotherapist for the Bahrain National Basketball Team," he said. "The structure of the course was well organized, allowing for a smooth progression of concepts and ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the material.

    "In addition, the course materials were superb, offering an abundance of resources that further enhanced my learning journey. The interactive exercises and practical examples really reinforced my understanding of the subject," he furthered.

    Another participant in Mohamed Almousawi, on the other hand, tipped his hat to the Regional Office for once again giving importance to strength and conditioning in the sport.

    "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to FIBA Asia for its commitment to the development of Sport and Conditioning coaches and for organizing such valuable courses," he said. "The opportunity to participate in the course has been incredibly beneficial to me, as I have gained new knowledge and refreshed my existing understanding."

    "The course not only expanded my knowledge base but also provided a platform for networking and collaboration with fellow coaches," he added. "The interactive sessions and group activities allowed me to exchange ideas, share experiences, and learn from the diverse perspectives of my peers. This collaborative environment fostered a sense of community and professional growth."

    The Regional Office, through this program, is aiming to lay the foundation of physical training through education to elevate the standard of basketball strength and conditioning coaches.
