    Lebanon - National team gears up for West Asia

    The national basketball team is gearing up for West Asia's championship that will kick off in Damascus on June 1, An Nahar daily reported Friday. It said 18 players have attended Thursday a meeting at Demirjian center in Naccache headed by coach Fouad Abou Chakra to begin preparations for the championship.

    The newspaper said if Lebanon comes in one of the first four positions, it would qualify for the Asian championship that will take place in Japan starting July 28 and the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing.
