RIGA (EuroBasket Women) - Poland coach Krzysztof Koziorowicz has resigned following his team’s Qualifying Round exit at the EuroBasket Women, the country’s basketball federation has confirmed.

Failure to progress cost Poland a chance to claim one of the top five spots in the competition that qualify teams for the 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women.

Koziorowicz last summer guided Poland to seven victories in eight EuroBasket qualifying games.

At the EuroBasket Women in Latvia, the Poles beat Greece and Hungary in Group B in Liepaja and needed just one victory in Riga to the advance to the Quarter-Finals.

But they lost to Slovakia, Spain and the struggling Czech Republic to crash out of the competition.

In their defeat to the Czechs, Poland’s UMMC Ekaterinburg star Agnieszka Bibrzycka failed to score and turned the ball over five times.
