Twice former Gulf League titlists now hold the edge on top of Group B standings

KUWAIT CITY (Kuwait) – Kuwait SC opened the second quarter with all guns blazing and only got stronger thence on their way to a 115-81 win over Sharjah SC in a Group B 2025-26 FIBA WASL-Gulf League game at the Shaikh Saad Alabdullah Sport Hall Complex on Tuesday night.

The overwhelming triumph took the twice former Gulf League titlists to their second win on the trot and the top position in the standings – with Kuwait ahead on head-to-head over Al Ula, having overcome the Saudi outfit in the previous outing.

Trailing a tad bit at the end of a see-saw first period, Kuwait blazed their way after that break.

Charlie Moore and Jamal Jones – each with only two points against their name in the opening period – were the lead performers in the Kuwait’s second quarter orchestra and eventually in the overwhelming triumph.

“We were indeed a little sluggish in the first quarter,” acknowledged Moore.

“But we found the energy in the second and our offense began to fall in place,” he added.

“But credit goes to the defense for keeping the focus.”

Moore dished out 6 assists to go with his 10 points and Jones drilled in three long rangers along with a sparkling dunk for 11 points during the second quarter to give Kuwait the edge.

And when Joffrey Lauvergne succeeded in both his attempts from the foul-stripe, Kuwait had taken a 19-point lead and a vice-like grip on the proceedings going into the locker-room break.

A lead that only swelled massively and a grip that only tightened immensely during the remainder of the game.

Moore, who played the entire game, went on to finish with 28 points and 17 assists two rebounds shy off a triple-double. Jones had 22 points behind Lauvergne’s game-high 31 points along with 11 rebounds.

Glenn Robinson III’s 28 points was the highest for Sharjah with Kavell Bigby-Williams adding a double-double of 23 points and 18 rebounds for the UAE League defending champions.

The FIBA WASL-Gulf League takes a break for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers Window 1 scheduled on November 27-December 1.
