    TIANJIN (FIBA Asia Championship) - Kuwait defeated fellow GCC nation United Arab Emirates 65-61 to take the 11th place on Saturday.

    Kuwait thus improved upon their 14th place finish at the 2007 FIBA Asia Championship in Tokushima.

    For UAE, who had finished 16th at Tokushima, the 12th place finish was an improvement.

    Mohammad Ashkanani’s game-high 20 points led the scoring for Kuwait. Fourteen of those came in the second half.

    Abdulaziz Alhamidi contributed 14 points and Shayee Saeed chipped in with 13.

    Younis Ibrahim was the highest scorer for UAE with 15 points.

    Talal Alnuaimi had 12.
