SEOUL (WKBL) - KDB Life Winnus outplayed Samsung Life Bichumi in back-to-back games – first at home then on road – to clinch their WKBL best-of-five semi-finals series 3-1 and set up a clash for their maiden title against reigning champions Shinhan Bank S-Birds.
Winnus won Game 3 at home 77-70 on Monday and followed that with a 68-52 rout of Bichumi in Game 4 at the latter’s own den on Wednesday to book their place in the finals.
Winnus had taken Game 1 on the score of 68-67 before Bichumi leveled the series with a 75-60 win.
Lee, the toast of Winnus
Guard Lee Kyung-eun (pictured) was the star of Winnus’ wins on both days.
On Monday, she shared the scoring honours for her team with Sin Jung-ja and Han Chae-jin with 16 points each, with both Sin and Hong Hyun-Hee adding a dozen rebounds each.
On Wednesday, Lee led all scorers with 20 points, including three three-pointers, while also handing out eight assists and pulling down 6 rebounds.
Han added 17 points and Sin did another great job on the glass, with a game-high 13 boards.
Seon Su-min's 18 points and 10 rebounds were in vain for Bichumi, who had lost the previous two WKBL Finals to S-Birds.
Meanwhile, S-Birds completed a 3-0 sweep of Shinsegae Cool Cat on Sunday to reach the finals. The S-Birds won the three games on the scores of 101-82, 70-57 and 68-60.
The best-of-five WKBL Finals tips off on 28 March with the S-Birds holding the home advantage.
