    SEOUL (KBL) - The Samsung Thunders, defending champions in the Korean Basketball League beat the KTF Magic Wings 97-81 in Thursday's season opener in Seoul.

    Under a new rule which prevents teams from using more than one foreign player in the second and third quarters, center Seo Jang-hoon and forward Nate Johnson of the United States, who has played in the KBL for three years, led the Thunders.

    Seo, 32,l, had 18 points and six rebounds, 10 points and Johnson scored 34 points while Nigerian Olumide Oyedeji, 42nd pick in the 2000 NBA draft by the Seattle Super Sonics, grabbed 13 rebounds and last season's final Most Valuable Player Kang Hyuk recorded 10 points and 13 assists.

    A crowd of 11,848 fans attended, the most in the 10-year history of KBL openers.
