    KNL Leagues – Ninth win in a row for Barsy

    ATYRAU/ASTANA, Kazakhstan (KNL Leagues) - Barsy Tigers routed crosstown rivals BK Atyrau 81-51 to register their ninth win in as many games in the men’s Kazakhstan National League Division I on Tuesday.

    Kazakshtan international Mikhail Yevstigneyev (pictured) scored 13 points and collected nine rebounds while Vassili Savchenko had a team-high 14 point as Barsy held a firm grip on the proceedings throughout.

    Anton Kotenko was the game's top scorer with 20 points for BK Atyrau.

    Meanwhile, defending champions Astana Tigers made it seven wins out of their last 10 games by beating Tobol 64-59.

    Villius Gabsys paced Astana with 16 points and Paulius Morkeliunas had 14 points and 10 boards.

    Pavel Mikheev finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds for Tobol.

    Irtysh, Astana split games

    In the women’s league, Irtysh and Astana Tigers split their Round 5 double-header.

    Anna Vikurova and Oksana Osipenko had 17 points each as Irtysh turned the tables on Astana to win 74-63 on Sunday to take top spot in the league standings. A day earlier they had lost 67-72.

    Zalina Kurazova and Evneniya Chernova had 13 points each for Astana in Sunday's defeat.

    In Saturday's win, Astana were well served by Yelena Khusnitdinova’s 14 points and Anastasia Alishauskaite’s 13.

    Anna Kucheryavykh scored 15 points for Irtysh.

    In other action, Okzhetpes won both their games against Taraz – 87-34 and 97-38.
