US-based players will join the national women's team in camp next month, a Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) official has said.
The team is preparing for this year's All Africa Games in Algiers, Algeria.
KBF chairman, Agina Wesonga, told SportFest the Government had confirmed it would provide air tickets for the players.
"We have already made arrangements to fly them in as soon as possible. We are now finalising arrangements for the home-based players to begin training at the Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium," Wesonga said.
He said head coach Ronny Owino has been in constant touch with five US-based players, adding that the latter had confirmed they were willing to join their colleagues.
The players include forwards Josephine Achieng and Beatrice Awino, who play at Union University in Tennessee and Jackie Wasuda who plays at Cisco University in Texas.
Others are guards Rose Ouma who is at Lewis and Clerk in Illinois, Maurine Obudho of Cisco University and Miriam Wandanda who turns out for Bethel University.
Meanwhile, KBF has handed all top coaches who did not attend the first Fiba Module One clinic a lifeline by organising a special one mid month.
KBF vice-chairman, Henry Shihemi, released new dates for the course yesterday and urged all tacticians who missed the first Fiba course in February to turn up and save their careers.
"KBF has organised this special clinic to arm all coaches with new skills before the league throws off next month. We therefore expect all those who missed out on the first clinic in February to turn up," Shihemi said.
The clinic will be held at the Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium from April 23.
Some of the top clubs that did not send their coaches to the first clinic include national champions Ulinzi Warriors, Kisumu Lakeside, University of Nairobi "Dynamites" and United States International University (Flames).
