Kenya have once again been pooled alongside African champions Nigeria in the 20th Africa Feminine Championships slated for Senegal in September.

The two nations will face off in the last game of Group B on September 26.

The two nations will also be in the same pool in the All Africa Games in Algiers, where they are scheduled to clash on July 16.

Kenya’s last two encounters against Nigeria ended in losses. In the 2003 Games in Abuja, Kenya put up a spirited fight but still succumbed 51-69 to the hosts.

The other encounter was in Nairobi in the 1997 continental championships where Nigeria hit Kenya 90-62 in the third/fourth play-off game to claim the bronze medal.

The Feminine Championships draw was done at the Meridien Hotel, Dakar on Saturday, by Fiba Africa competitions secretary, Abderrauf Menjour.

Other teams in Kenya’s pool include Angola, Cameroon, DR Congo and Cape Verde.

The Kenyan girls open their campaign against Angola on September 21. Kenya played Angola in Abuja and lost 72-70 in extra time after a 60-60 deadlock in regular time.

They’ll then play Cape Verde a day later, before facing Cameroon on September 23. They will then play DR Congo before winding up against Nigeria on September 26.

Meanwhile, Qatar Army team coach Mohammed Muse Abdirahman at the weekend donated 11 balls and training kits to the national women’s team currently training for the All Africa Games.

Speaking to SportFest at the Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium, Abdirahman said he would be backing Kenya to win the Pan African Games.

"Wherever I’ll be, my heart will be with the Kenyans. I really like the way they are training and I’m hopeful they’ll emerge victorious," he said.

Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) chairman, Agina Wesonga, and national team head coach, Ronny Owino, thanked the tactician for his kind gesture.
