NAIROBI (Premier League) - KCB Lions mauled Kenyatta University "Pirates" 90-31 in a mid week Premier League tie at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium.
KU had it all too easy against a KU side that had absolutely nothing to offer. The students have only won one of their 14 matches.
Tobias Onyango led KCB with 17 points, David Nyarsoruk made 15, Yoni Wanambiro shot 12 while John Njuguna and David Otiso each hit 10. For KU, Phil Dinga bagged 12.
In a closely fough match, International Chrisian Center (ICC) pipped University of Nairobi "Terrorists" 79-78 in a closely fought match.
Victor Odendo scored 32 points for ICC while Eugene Genga managed 20 for UoN who had taken a close 36-32 half time lead.
In the women league match, Sprite Storms hit Eagle Wings with a late sucker punch to take a 67-59 in a top tie.
The victors, who have now bagged 26 points, had a field day early in the game, sailing to 20 points margin before hanging on 43-30 at the breather.
In the third quarter, it was Wings who were on top as they posed all sorts of problemns closing in 46-54 as the byuzzer for the end of the last the third quarter sounded.
Then with under two minutes left to play, a Caroline Achieng basket saw deadlocked the duel 59-59. But a free Hilda Luvandwa swished a long three pointer to see Storms away 62-59.
This shot by Luvandwa, who was annonymous the entire last half seemed to have punched the air off the lungs of Eagles as they never scored thereafter.
Luvandwa led all scorers with 29 points while her national team mate Angela Luchivya scored another 12.Wings were led by Acheing who scored 22 and Joyce Makungu posted 16.
In another game, United States International University (USIU) "Flames" maintained their unbeaten run with a hard fough 59-42 dismiss of Yana Milele.
Evlyne Norah led the points tally with 15 while national team forward Angela Okoth scored another 10 for USIU. Yana had the leading scorers in Caroline Achieng.
This loss to the students means that Yana will most likely miss out on next month's four team play offs. Storms, USIU, Wings and Kenya Ports Authority remain favourites.
