    MIAMI (United States) – Do you know who Alejandro Avilés is? If you are a basketball fan, you have probably heard this name. This young Puerto Rican player has been projected as one of the main prospects in his country and the entire region.

    Avilés, still 14 years old, debuted with the Puerto Rico national team in the FIBA ​​U16 Americas Championship in 2021 where he averaged 16.7 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. That same year, he led his country to a Centrobasket U17 Championship title with another great performance (12.8 PTS, 9.0 REB).

    In 2022 he participated in his second Americas Championship, but in the U18 category and was the leader of the Puerto Rican team averaging 14.5 points and 8.7 rebounds. Last year (2023) was another great year for the young center because he participated in his second U17 Centrobasket (10.6 PTS, 7.4 REB), obtaining his second title in the category and joining the All-Star 5. In addition, he debuted with the Puerto Rico senior national team at the Pan American Games.

    Now, at 17 years old, Avilés is part of the Dream City Christian high school team in Arizona, United States, and is on the radar of several NCAA division 1 schools.

    The 2.06m player, who has also had the opportunity to be part of the FIBA ​​Youth Development Program (he was present at the camp held in Utah in July 2022), is committed to his comprehensive training and achieving his goals.
